TWIST OF FATE (front two-hand push)

1. With feet together, drop back with your R foot to 6:00 (into a L neutral bow) as both of your hands come up and out (twin extended outward chops) to inside of opponent’s wrists. (See PARTING WINGS).
2. Quickly, pivot your L foot out (to a rotating twist stance) as your L hand grabs opponent’s R wrist and your R hand grabs his L.
3. Deliver a R step through slicing knife-edge kick to opponent’s R ribcage or R thigh.
4. As you plant your R foot to 10:00, cross your opponent’s arms (L under R) and twist them counter clockwise as you pivot & shuffle under (your back to 11:00) to face 5:00 in a L neutral bow.
5. Without losing momentum, break opponent’s arms by forcing them forward and down then flip him on his back, shuffling back if needed.
6. While still grasping his wrists and pulling up, deliver a R knee kick to back of his head. Land towards 6:00 into a R forward bow so that opponent’s back rests against your knee as you execute double downward palm heels to his ears that then claw up across his face (Your R knee continues to brace against his back.)
7. Cross your hands (R over L) in front of opponent’s face. Execute two ripping claws with your R hand clawing the L side as your L hand claws the R side.
8. Loop your hands out and then in to execute double inward hand swords to both sides of opponent’s neck.
9. Press your R knee forward to bend opponent then shoot a R knife-edge kick to his back to knock him forward. From there, R stomp his L ankle, if necessary. Cover out.

ALTERNATE: SNAKING TALON (front two-hand push)

1. With feet together, drop back with your L foot to 6:00 into a R neutral bow as your L hand guards high. Your R hand loops a figure-8 (a R inward hand sword on the outside of opponent’s L hand then under and around to outside of opponent’s R wrist) to grab his R wrist with your R hand.
2. R foot slides back to a R cat stance as your R hand pulls opponent toward you and your L palm heel breaks his elbow. Simultaneously, deliver a R ball kick to opponent’s groin (kicking toward 12:00). With your R kicking foot still in the air, do a R front crossover (or a L step-behind crossover) into a R front twist stance toward 9:00.
3. Immediately pivot counterclockwise for a R rear kick to opponent’s chest area (toward 12:00).
4. As opponent comes back at you, your R foot steps out toward 2:00 execute a L round kick to opponent’s groin.
5. Continue to circle clockwise and plant your L foot to 3:00 as you execute a R rear kick.
6. R front crossover and cover out towards 6:00.

GRABBING TIGER (front bear hug over the arms)

1. Step R foot back into L front stance for L hand “cowbite” to attacker’s R side simultaneous with R ridgehand into groin.
2. Slide L hand up between you & attacker to claw and grab throat. Push him back.
3. R palm heel strike to the nose followed by R horizontal elbow strike to his L jaw.
4. Right handsword strike to opponent’s R throat, L inverted handsword to R neck, R inverted handsword to L ribs.
5. Immediately, slide back into a cat stance to finish with a L front “snap” kick to groin.

GRIP OF DEATH (left flank headlock)

1. With opponent applying lock from your L side, step forward with your R foot to your L (10:00) into a R close kneel to check his R leg with your knee while turning your head to the L and tucking your chin against your chest. Simultaneously deliver a R hammer fist to opponent’s groin and a L hammer fist to his kidney.
2. The fingers of your L hand press under opponent’s nose (as your elbow points down) to make sure his head is arched and forced back. (Grabbing hair or pressing under the jaw are alternatives to nose.)
3. Immediately fire a R palm heel to opponent’s chin as you pivot into a L forward bow.
4. With your L foot behind and to the R of opponent’s R foot, execute a L step-through sweep towards 10:00 and use your L arm to clear opponent’s R arm forward. (This should spread your opponent’s legs out and disturb his balance. You are essentially positioned behind opponent.)
5. From your L front stance facing 10:00, your R foot steps slightly to 6:00 as you shoot your L foot backward to 8:00 into a L reverse bow to buckle out the inside of opponent’s L knee. (Your hands check opponent’s back: L hand low, R high.)
6. From your L reverse bow, execute a L knife-edge kick to the back of opponent’s R knee.
7. Land in a L neutral bow and pivot clockwise to execute a R rear kick to opponent’s spine or tailbone.
8. Land in a R front crossover and cover out 4:00.

STRIKING SERPENT’S HEAD (front bear hug – arms free)

1. Your R foot steps back (to 6:00) into a L neutral bow. Simultaneously hook your L hand around and back of opponent’s head so that your knuckles and wrist bone strike the neck and mastoid while your R palm heel strikes side of face before your elbow hammers down onto his bicep.
2. Immediately your L hand grabs and pulls opponent’s hair back (above the forehead) as you shift into a L forward bow (toward 12:00 to check inside of his R knee). Execute a thrusting half fist (“Leopard strike”) to opponent’s throat.
3. As your L hand continues to grab hair, your L foot steps to 10:00 (into a L neutral bow). Immediately, your R foot circles clockwise behind opponent’s R leg as you execute a R inward elbow under his R arm to his R ribs (knocking him backwards).
4. Your R hand contours under the arm and up to opponent’s head to grip the hair (or his L shoulder or clothing).
5. Pivot into a R forward bow toward opponent (to 2:00) to execute a L inward overhead hammerfist down to his chest followed by a R diagonal hammerfist to his face (opponent trips over your stationary R leg and falls to ground.)
6. Execute a R downward looping round kick to opponent’s chest.
7. Plant into a front crossover and cover out to 8:00

SPINNING TIGER (right arm strangle hold from the rear)

1. Your R foot steps to 3:00 into a horse stance as you simultaneously pull down on opponent’s R elbow with your R hand as your L chops back to his groin.
2. Step across with your L foot and rotate 180 degrees to attacker’s R side. As you move into his R elbow, wrap your L arm up and over it to apply arm bar.
3. With opponent bent forward, shoot a R vertical punch to his face followed immediately by a looping R ridgehand up to his throat.
4. Shoot a R hammer strike to back of arm to break it followed by a L vertical punch to the ribs. Immediately flow to a R hammer strike to side or back of his neck and a L palm heel to the face or ear.
5. Your L foot slides across into a twist stance for a R spinning side kick to attacker’s R ribs. Step across and cover out.

REPEATED DEVASTATION (full nelson)

1. With feet together and in a full nelson, your R foot steps to 3:00 into a narrow horse stance as you strike over and back of your head with two middle-knuckle fists (palms facing forward) to opponent’s temples or eyes.
2. Immediately, both your elbows strike down to opponent’s biceps (palms still facing forward) while dropping lower in your horse stance; thrust both fists toward the ground (palms facing you) as you straighten and stiffen your knees for a head butt (See SCRAPING HOOF).
3. Step forward (in a straight line) with your L foot toward 2:00 into a L neutral bow and pivot clockwise into a R forward bow (facing 8:00) as your L arm circles under his L wrist to grab across to his R wrist. Deliver a R outward thrusting elbow strike to opponent’s R jaw as your L arm traps both his arms. L foot steps back to point of origin.
4. Step forward with your R foot toward 10:00 into a R neutral bow and pivot counter-clockwise into a L forward bow (facing 4:00) as your R arm circles under his R wrist to grab across to his L wrist. Deliver a L outward thrusting elbow strike to opponent’s L jaw as your R arm traps both his arms.
5. Circle your L arm counterclockwise around opponent’s neck to apply a headlock as your L foot steps back to 12:00 into a R neutral bow. Pull your opponent towards you and shoot a R punch to his L jaw.
6. With opponent bent over, execute a L knee strike immediately followed by a R knee his face.
7. With your R knee cocked, release your L arm and pivot counterclockwise to execute a R side kick to the inside of opponent’s R knee as you simultaneously shoot a R heel palm strike to the L side of his jaw.
9. From the R kick, land in a R front crossover and cover out to 12:00.

ALTERNATE: TWIRLING SACRIFICE (full nelson)

1. With opponent at 6:00 applying full nelson, stiffen your body and force your neck back. Immediately, your R foot steps to 3:00 into a horse stance. Quickly, shift into a L close cat as your L foot slides behind and back of opponent’s legs toward 7:00 as your L hammer fist strikes his groin. Immediately, both your arms grab the back of his knees.
2. Bend over and lift opponent’s legs off the ground with both your hands (R to R, L to L). Squeeze his knees together!
3. Turn counterclockwise as you lift opponent’s legs off the ground and smash his head into a wall, chair, etc.
4. Slide your hands to his ankles (L to R, R to L with palms facing) and roll opponent onto his face while holding his legs in the air with your arms.
5. While maintaining the leg grabs, drag your L foot to your R to gauge the distance and execute a R front kick to opponent’s solar plexus. Slide your R foot down his body and execute a R knife-edge kick to the jaw or face.
6. Plant your R foot as you cross opponent’s R leg over his L so that his R ankle is place in the back of his L knee. Bend his L leg and maintain pressure as you position him on his stomach, head pointing to 6:00.
7. Step your L foot to 4:30 as you drop into a L close kneel and force your R knee onto his R leg (with enough pressure you can dislocate the knee joint.)
8. Grab opponent’s L ankle as you stand and shuffle back to 10:30 and jerk counterclockwise to break.
9. Execute a L front crossover stomp and cover out.

SQUATTING SACRIFICE (rear bear hug - arms free)

1. As opponent applies rear bear hug (arms free), your R foot steps to 3:00 into a horse as both your elbows strike down to opponent’s forearms (See CRASHING WINGS). Squat on opponent’s R knee as your hands grab and pull up on his R ankle. (Counter force should cause the knee to break).
2. Immediately twist opponent’s R ankle counter clockwise as your R leg circles clockwise (preferably raking across opponent’s face in the process) and plants to 7:00 into a L close kneel stance while still facing 12:00.
3. Pivot (in place) into a R forward bow as you now face 6:00.
4. While still maintaining grab with your R hand, step forward with your L foot to 6:00 into a L close kneel stance (paralleling opponent’s body) and deliver a L front kick to his ribs. Your L hand then grabs opponent’s L wrist.
5. Support your weight onto your L leg as you cock your R leg high to your waist.
6. Pull and jerk up with both arms as your R foot stomps to opponent’s lower spine.
7. R front crossover, (sweeping opponent’s L arm down to break) then step over it to clear it back next to his body with your R foot.
8. Shoot a L snap kick to his face followed by a R slicing knife-edge kick to his L jaw. Let the momentum of the kick rotate you counterclockwise into a R inverted neutral bow.
9. Without disrupting the counterclockwise rotation, execute a L back kick to opponent’s temple.
10. Step into a L front crossover and cover out to 3:00.

SQUEEZING THE PEACH (rear bear hug — arms pinned)

1. With your feet together and opponent applying hug, move your L foot back to 5:00 (into a neutral bow) as your L palm heel hits and grabs opponent’s testicles; your R hand grabs and checks his arms.
2. Immediately step forward with your L foot to 1:00 into a L neutral bow, pulling opponent along, and deliver a R rear scoop kick to groin once you’re set.
3. With your R leg still in the air shoot a R stiff leg stomp to 10:00 to buckle or break his L leg. Simultaneously deliver a R obscure back elbow (palm down) up to opponent’s jaw while looking over your R shoulder as your L hand checks low.
4. From the point of contact of your R elbow, execute a R hammer fist to opponent’s groin as your L hand checks to the R of your face. Have your R hand grab to the R of his neck as your L hand grabs on the L side.
5. Pull forward and force opponent’s head down as you execute a R knee kick up to his face.
6. From your R knee strike, execute a R knife-edge kick to the inside of opponent’s R knee.
7. From the point of contact of the R kick, plant your R foot to 2:00 as you twist clockwise into a R front twist stance and execute a R rising forearm strike to opponent’s chin.
8. From your R front twist stance execute a R rear kick to opponent’s middle.
9. With your R foot in the air, jump and rotate your body 180 degrees as you execute a L inward crescent kick to the R side of opponent’s face.
10. Execute a L front crossover and cover out towards 10:00.

FLIGHT TO FREEDOM (hammerlock)

1.With feet together and opponent locking your R arm, you attempt to execute LOCKED WING but opponent prevents you by checking your L shoulder.
2. Immediately have your L foot short-step through to 12:00 (into a R reverse cat stance) as your R arm straightens and continues to grab opponent’s R wrist (pull in so that the “principle of opposing forces” is employed). Don’t telegraph your next move by looking back!
3. From your R reverse cat, deliver a R thrusting back heel kick to opponent’s groin or lower stomach and do a R rotating twist (facing 8:00) as you twist your opponent’s R arm clockwise. Your L palm heel strikes his elbow to break it.
4. Follow-up with a L snapping sidekick to opponent’s L inner knee.
5. Without planting your L foot, cross it in front of your R (into a L front twist stance) to 12:00 while using your L palm heel strike to break again opponent’s R elbow.
6. Pivot clockwise into a R neutral bow facing 4:00 to execute a R backfist to opponent’s R kidney. Without a loss of momentum, execute a L/R knee kick combination to his stomach.
7. With your R foot cocked, execute a R side kick to 8:00 to the inside of opponent’s L knee.
9. Land in a R front crossover and cover out to 2:00.

FALLEN CROSS (rear two-hand choke)

1. With feet together and opponent choking you from the rear, step to your L (to 9:00) into a horse stance as you tuck your chin, grab both of his wrists (anchor your elbows down), and pull downward to lock his elbows.
2. Move your R foot forward to 10:00 (into a R neutral bow) and pivot counterclockwise as you cross opponent’s arms with his R arm over his L while now facing 6:00. (Make sure his arms are crossed at or above the elbows.)
3. While still grabbing opponent’s wrists, force opponent’s arms down as your deliver a R knee kick up and against the L elbow joint of your opponent to break it (opponent’s L elbow joint should be facing down at this point). Without hesitation and with your R knee against your opponent’s L elbow, deliver a R front snapping ball kick to groin.
4. As you plant your R foot forward (to 6:00), deliver a R inward horizontal elbow strike to the jaw.
5. Pivot your body clockwise as you execute a R outward claw to opponent’s face followed by a L knee to his groin.
6. Your L foot steps forward to 4:00 into a L neutral bow as you execute a L heel palm strike to opponent’s face.
7. Gauging your distance, execute a R step-through front kick to the inside of opponent’s R knee to buckle out his leg.
8. Plant your R foot back, again gauging, as you shoot a L round kick to opponent’s head.
9. Step into a L front crossover and cover out to 10:30.

ALTERNATE: CROUCHING TIGER (rear two-hand choke)

1. Your L foot cross-steps back behind your R as your L/R palm heels strike into opponent’s groin before you pass under his arms to stand beside him (in a horse stance) facing the opposite direction.
2. Shoot your R hammer strike to side of his neck followed by a L palm heel strike to side of head (or ear).
3. Immediately, flow into a R ridgehand strike straight into the throat followed by a rolling R backfist to his temple. Your L hand continues to check.
4. Finish with a R round kick to his stomach or groin. Step across with your R foot and cover out.

GLANCING SALUTE (front right-hand shoulder push or collar grab)

1. As opponent pushes your R shoulder with his R hand, step forward and to your L to 10:00 with your L foot (into a L neutral bow). Immediately pivot to your R (to 3:00) into a R forward bow as your R arm pins his R wrist to your R chest and your L forearm strikes out against the joint of your his R elbow, breaking it.
2. Pivot to your L (to 12:00) into a L forward bow as your L hand checks down and pins opponent’s R arm to his body as your R palm heel strikes to his jaw (sliding by).
3. Hook the back of opponent’s neck with your R hand shape of the crane. Pull his neck down as your R knee kicks his stomach.
4. As your R foot lands forward in a neutral bow, your R elbow horizontally strikes forward to the face.
5. Your L foot steps behind into a rear crossover for your L palm heel to the face as your R palm heel strikes the chest. Instantly slide your R foot inside of opponent’s L knee (to 2:00) to buckle and simultaneously execute a R downward palm strike to his groin as your L hand guards high.
6. As your L hand hooks over his neck, shoot a rising R back knuckle fist straight up into his face (“sandwich”).
7. Immediately execute a R knee kick to the inside of his R knee.
8. Land in a R front twist stance facing opponent as you execute a L two-finger hook to his eye.
9. As your L foot steps out to 2:00, strike his head with a R back knuckle. Cross out and cover.

OBSCURE CLAWS (flank left hand shoulder grab)

1. Opponent applies R shoulder grab and pulls back. Your R foot steps back to 6:00 (into a horse stance facing 3:00) as your R hand circles clockwise and claws upward to his face followed immediately by a L inward claw.
2. Without hesitation, your R foot crosses over your L to 12:00 as you deliver a R uppercut to the L elbow joint of opponent’s L arm.
3. Your L foot steps forward to 1:00 and pivots to your R facing 5:00 as your R back knuckle strikes through opponent’s ribs then circles up (in same hooking motion) to hit back of his neck. Simultaneously pivot to a R forward bow and deliver a L inward horizontal palm heel thrust to his solar plexus.
4. Following the contour of your own L arm, strike forward and horizontally to opponent’s sternum with a R hammer fist.
5. Rotate clockwise into a R front twist stance to execute R outward/L inward claws to opponent’s face.
6. Pivot into a R neutral bow to execute L outward/R inward claws to opponent’s face. Continue this motion and execute a R knife-edge kick to the inside of his R knee.
7. From the kick, your R foot crosses over (to 6:00) as you pivot counterclockwise for a R round kick to opponent’s L kidney.
8. Land in a R front crossover and cover out to 9:00.

CROSSING TALON (front right cross wrist grab)

1. As attacker’s R hand grabs your R wrist, counter grab his wrist as your L foot steps forward and to your R (to 1:00) into a L neutral bow. Simultaneously, strike his R elbow with your L forearm in a forward thrusting motion while your R hand pulls in toward and past your R hip.
2. Immediately pull his arm across your body to drop him low and deliver a L side elbow strike to opponent’s R jaw followed by a L five-finger rip to the face (anchor your elbow on his shoulder).
3. Circle your L arm clockwise and strike down with your L elbow to top of spine.
4. Follow-up with a L downward palm heel strike to back of opponent’s neck. As your L hand continues to push down, simultaneously deliver a R knee kick to opponent’s face, causing a sandwiching effect. Replant your R foot to original position.
5. Immediately shift your L hand to have it grab back of opponent’s R hand to the thumb area while your R hand also shifts and grabs opposite side of opponent’s hand. Your L elbow continues to check downward to control opponent.
6. Your L foot steps back to 6:00 (crossover stance) as you snap opponent’s wrist by quickly twisting both your hands counter-clockwise at your R hip.
7. Once opponent is forced to the ground face up, shoot a R roundhouse kick to his solar plexus.
8. As your R foot crosses behind his arm into a twist stance, twist opponent’s wrist clockwise in both your hands to reverse the grab.
9. Shoot a L knife-edge kick to opponent’s R neck as both your hands pull up to dislocate his R shoulder. Release his arm and sweep it down with your L foot. Stomp his wrist as your foot lands, if necessary.
10. L foot crosses over to cover out.

DARTING MACE (front two-hand wrist grab)

1. As opponent grabs your R wrist with both hands, step forward (toward 12:00) with your L foot to a L neutral bow (to check inside opponent’s R knee). At same time, your R hand counter grabs his R wrist and your L forearm is used as a thrusting inward strike to his elbow then shooting to a L vertical punch to his face.
2. Drop your L arm down (while still in place) and horizontally across opponent’s arms as you pull your R hand out of his grasp and immediately strike with your R middle knuckle punch (“dragon’s head”) to the solar plexus while shifting into a L forward bow.
3. Simultaneously move your R foot up next to your L into a R close cat stance as your L outward chop strikes (palm down) to opponent’s throat (as your R hand guards low) and your R knee kicks to his groin.
4. Without hesitation, step through into a R neutral bow between 11 and 12:00 with your R foot (to check his R knee) as you deliver a R palm heel thrust to opponent’s jaw. Your L hand checks his arms.
5. Step into a L front crossover as your R back knuckle strikes to his R ribs.
6. Immediately pivot into a L neutral bow as you execute a L palm heel to the R side of opponent’s face. (Your R arm will be checking horizontally against opponent’s chest.)
7. From your L neutral bow, execute a R overhead hooking downward diagonal punch to opponent’s L temple or cheek. Immediately pivot counterclockwise into a rotating L front twist stance to convert your punch into a R inward elbow to the jaw.
8. Your R foot steps back into a L neutral bow as you execute a L uppercut to the chin.
9. Shoot a L front scoop kick to opponent’s groin followed by a R front kick to his solar plexus.
10. Land in a R front crossover and cover out.

ESCAPING TIGER (two hand wrist grab from behind)

1. Counter-grab both of attacker’s wrists. Your R foot steps out to 11:00 before you turn L to twist and face attacker in a L forward bow. Push & pull to break attacker’s hold on your R hand. Continue to grip his L wrist down with your L hand.
2. R horizontal punch to face followed by a R inverted hammer strike (“corkscrew punch”) to his L temple.
3. Immediately, shoot a R four finger jab to his L eye followed with a L front snap kick to his groin.
4. As your foot lands, break his L arm with a R forearm strike to the elbow. Shoot a L ridge hand to his R temple.
5. Quickly, fire a R round kick to the inside of his R knee to buckle. Your R foot steps across as you cover out.

CAPTURED LEAVES (front right finger lock)

1. Opponent at 9:00 grabs your R hand fingers and moves toward 12:00. As your R fingers are twisted forward by your opponent’s L hand, raise your R hand high (toward 11:00) to relieve the pressure and step out with your R foot. Your L hand sword (or forearm strike) immediately chops his wrist below your fingers to eliminate the lock.
2. While in place, pivot counter-clockwise and deliver a L back elbow (from last checking position) to opponent’s L kidney while in a L reverse neutral bow.
3. Quickly pivot clockwise into a R neutral bow and deliver a R horizontal elbow to opponent’s L ribcage as your L hand guards to the R of your face.
4. Shoot your R foot back to 7:30 into a R reverse bow to buckle the inside of opponent’s L knee while maintaining control of his L hand.
5. R foot slides out to 1:30 into a R forward bow to buckle opponent’s R leg from the inside (See SCRAPING HOOF).
6. With opponent down, step to 4:30 as you execute a L crossover stomp kick to his R knee.
7. Your L foot lands over and your R foot follows to shoot a R sidekick to his ribs. Slide up (if needed) for a R sidekick to his face.
8. Cross over and cover out.

CROSS OF DEATH (front two-hand cross choke)

1. Your R foot steps to 12:00 into a R neutral bow as you buckle the inside of opponent’s R knee. Simultaneous with this move, pin across opponent’s arms with your L hand while you execute a R glancing inward forearm strike that hits his L elbow and becomes a R vertical punch to the face.
2. Pivot into a R forward bow facing 12:00 as you execute a L uppercut to opponent’s stomach while your R arm checks both of his arms down.
3. Your L foot steps to 4:30 as you execute a R palm heel claw across opponent’s face that circles out and down. As you settle into a R neutral bow facing 10:30, convert claw to a R chopping punch to his L kidney (See GLANCING WING.).
4. Immediately, your L hand claws down opponent’s face followed by a R vertical back knuckle.
5. Grab and control opponent’s L shoulder with both your hands as you execute a R round kick to the back of his L knee. Reverse the motion and shoot a R hook kick to the inside of his L knee.
6. Plant your R foot and drag your L up to gauge the distance for a R front kick to the inside of opponent’s R knee.
7. Plant your R foot and slide into a L rear crossover as you execute a L heel palm and a R downward/inward elbow strike to opponent’s jaw (See GLANCING WING).
8. Step to 7:30 with your L foot as your R hand comes up to claw across opponent’s face.
9. Step into a R front crossover and cover out.
