Finger Set 1
In Finger Set 1, we do the various finger strikes in groups: Pokes (1-11), Whips (12-15), Slices (16-17), Claws (18-24), and Hooks (25-26). For each of these strikes, use the form indicated below:
* Pokes (Spears): all pokes are three-finger pokes
* Whips: for whips, the hand is in the shape of the crane. On the whip, the hand begins with the fingers forward, whips with the back of the hand, and then retracts back to the original position.
* Slices: these are two finger slices.
* Claws: all ‘claws’ are actually heelpalm strikes that become claws.
* Hooks: these are two finger hooks.
To begin, step out with the left foot into a horse stance, and do the hand-only part of the Kenpo salutation.
1. Right hand spear (palm down), at full extension, to the eye.
2. Left hand spear (palm down), at full extension, to the eye.
3. Right hand spear, at three-quarters extension, to the solar plexus.
4. Left hand spear, at three-quarters extension, to the solar plexus.
5. Right hand spear (palm up), at half extension, under the ribcage.
6. Left hand spear (palm up), at half extension, under the ribcage.
7. Left elbow with right eye jab over the left shoulder. The elbow adds reach for the jab.
8. Right elbow with left eye jab over the right shoulder. The elbow adds reach for the jab.
9. Double finger flicks to the eyes, as the hands return to the hips.
10. Double hand-spears (palms up) to the throat.
11. Double horizontal scissoring darts with wrists crossed (right on top).
12. Do a right two finger flick to the eyes, while the left arm covers low.
13. Do a left two finger flick to the eyes, while the right arm covers low.
14. Do a right two finger flick to the groin, while the left arm covers horizontally.

17. Do a left inward slice to the eye (palm up), followed by an outward slice (palm down) to the eye.
18. Do a right horizontal inward heelpalm to the face, which rotates into a claw to the face. The right hand then does an outward chop to the right side of the face, and then continues into a claw.
19. Do a left horizontal inward heelpalm to the face, which rotates into a claw to the face. The left hand then does an outward chop to the left side of the face, and then continues into a claw.

23. Do a left underhand claw to the groin in front with a right claw to the groin behind.
24. Bring both hands up your centerline in a wedge block that rolls into index fingers to the eyes. Both hands, in claw form, then continue upward and outward before coming down to the sides, with the palm striking the thigh first and then the finger tips.
25. Do a right inward finger hook to the eyes. The right hand stays up, with the elbow anchored.
26. Do a left inward finger hook to the eyes.
To close the set, roll the hands into peace-and-friendship, and close.
