Gun Defenses
CAPTURING THE ROD (right front pistol)
1. Standing naturally with hands down, your R foot steps forward to 12:00 to a R neutral bow to execute a L outward parry close to your body (See REPEATING MACE) to catch and deflect gun barrel (be sure your body pivots counter-clockwise to face square to 9:00). Simultaneously, your R hand reaches over (palm down) to grab gun at the chamber or hammer.
2. With your R hand controlling the gun down under your L armpit, execute a L two-finger poke over to his eyes then immediately snap the poke back so that the L hand returns down under the gun. Your R elbow, on top of his R arm, helps control the weapon.
3. Your L hand assists your R and as your R foot steps back to 6:00 to a L neutral bow. Twist his wrist and the gun clockwise and back so that the barrel points toward him.
4. As you switch your L neutral bow to a forward bow stance, yank gun from his grip with your R hand so that trigger finger of his R hand is forced back and broken. Simultaneously, arc gun clockwise to strike back of opponent?s head.
5. Pull gun back past your R hip to execute a R front snap ball kick to his groin. As your R foot plants forward to 12:00, come up with the butt of the gun in an arc upward/outward diagonally to the R to strike his R jaw (your L hand is checking at this point to his R arm).
6. Now execute a L inward/downward diagonal strike to his L cheek bone followed by a R looping outward/downward strike to the L side of his head or bridge of nose. Follow through and down with the gun toward your R hip (all this like a figure 8 pattern) as you step back to a L neutral bow.
7. Now execute a L front crossover as your L hand grabs the barrel of the gun. Switch your R hand so that you have the proper pistol grip. As you execute a R reverse step through, drop your L hand down below the gun into a check position (don?t let your L hand exceed the end of the barrel).
8. You are now clear and aiming the gun at the opponent.
TWISTED ROD (right front pistol)
1. Standing naturally with hands down, your L foot steps slightly forward as your R hand executes an outward parry to the barrel of the gun and your L grabs his R hand.
2. Your R foot steps forward and outside his R leg (to 11:00) as your R forearm pins against the back of his R hand to force it back.
3. Pivot in place counter clockwise (into a L forward bow stance facing 6:00) as your L hand and R forearm twist opponent’s R wrist and arm counter clockwise (?small circle?) to break it as he?s thrown over your R leg to land on his back (with his head toward 10:30 and his feet toward 4:30).
4. Immediately execute a R shovel kick (first the ball of your foot then the heel in the same motion) to his R rib cage, following through and across his chest.
5. Strike down with a R heel stomp to his L ribs or shoulder. Plant your R foot just to the R of his L arm and pivot counter clockwise into a L close kneel stance.
6. Drop your R knee down to his chest or throat as you shoot a R two-finger poke to both his eyes (your L hand is still holding onto his R gun and hand).
7. Take the gun with your R hand and strike down and back (toward your R leg) through the R side of jaw with the butt of the gun. Strike again forward and through his face with the butt of the gun, following through to hit and hurt his R arm.
8. Stand up and execute a R knife-edge kick to his R arm immediately followed by a R sidekick to his face. Step over the arm into a R front crossover, take the gun by the barrel with your L hand and switch it to your R. Cover out R and assume ?interview distance? aiming gun at opponent with the L hand below in a checking position (take care so as not to have your hand go in front of the barrel).
DEFYING THE ROD (right front pistol)
1. Standing naturally with hands down, pivot counter clockwise as your L foot slides to 2:00 into a L front rotating twist stance and your L hand shoots a L outward parry (?waiter hand?). Be sure your centerline moves off to the R of line of fire.
2. Immediately your L hand grabs his hand (at the gun) as you simultaneously execute a R front snapping ball kick to his groin with a R two-finger poke to his eyes.
3. Plant down R toward 11:00 (to buckle the inside of opponent’s R knee) as your R hand checks his R arm down then shoots a R horizontal elbow into the L side of his face.
4. Your R hand grabs his gun hand to assist your L then removes the gun while maintaining the grab with your L. Immediately your R foot steps back to 6:00 to execute a right downward outward diagonal strike with the butt of the gun to the back right side of his head (your L hand checks his R arm out to the L).
5. Now continue the flow of the gun to strike up through his face. Come back down with the gun handle to the back of his head or shoulders simultaneously with a R knee kick to his sternum.
6. With your R knee still at his sternum, shoot a R snapping instep kick into the groin then, with the leg still in the air, execute a R knife edge kick to the inside of his L knee.
7. Plant your R foot forward then step behind with your L as your R hand executes a R downward outward backhand strike with the butt of the gun to the head then follows back through to strike again.
8. Unwind from the twist counterclockwise and execute a L spinning back kick to the body. Cross over and cover out.
BROKEN ROD (right rear pistol)
1. Stand naturally as opponent presses gun in your back. Pivot clockwise in place (using the heel of your R foot and the ball of your L) to face toward 5:00 in a R front rotating twist stance as you simultaneously execute a R outward palm up hooking parry (waiter’s hand) to parry gun down and away.
2. Your L foot steps out into a L neutral bow stance to 5:00 (to check outside opponent’s R knee) as your R hand (palm down) grabs the gun hand gun while you execute a L uppercut break to his R elbow.
3. Shoot a L hammer fist to his groin then roll your L forearm over his R triceps as your R foot steps forward to bring opponent down into a elbow lock on your R leg. Yank the gun out of his hand with your R hand.
4. Immediately execute a R vertical upward strike to the chin of the opponent with the butt of the gun; in the same motion follow through and loop overhead to come back down and in to hit the sternum.
5. Hop L to 4:30 into a L one-legged stance as you loop the gun over outward and down (L hand checks his shoulder) to strike the back of opponent’s R elbow (SEE “Glancing Lance”).
6. With your R foot still in the air and cocked, execute a R knife edge thrust kick to the back of opponent’s R leg (at the knee) to buckle. As your R foot kicks, your R hand (with the gun), which is down by your R hip, comes up to strike R side of his face and through.
7. Immediately pivot clockwise in place to a R front rotating twist stance to strike diagonally down (from L to R) to the back of opponent’s neck with the butt of the gun. Follow through this action a L palm heel strike to back of his head (to act as a check).
8. As you turn counter clockwise, execute an upward diagonal strike (R to L) to opponent?s R head. Follow through with the R foot, spinning to 3:00.
9. Face opponent in a L forward stance as you adjust your hands to hold gun in ?interview position?, taking care to not allow your hand to move in front of the barrel. L front crossover and cover out.
