Knife Defenses

RAINING LANCE (right front overhead step-through knife attack)

1. While in a L neutral bow (or standing naturally) your L foot moves to 10:30 as your R hand (while open) inward parries outside of opponent’s R wrist.  Your L hand comes over to complete the parry and grab the knife hand as your R hand guides down.
2. With the attack is still in motion, pivot into a L forward bow as your L hand assists your R in following the force of opponent’s knife hand. Still following the knife hand and without losing momentum, jam the knife into opponent’s R thigh.
3. Release your R hand check to deliver a R inward horizontal elbow strike to opponent’s sternum while shuffling forward (push drag.)
4. With your L hand still pressing the knife against the thigh, have your R hand come down to take its place.  Pivot into  L neutral bow as your L outward reverse tiger’s mouth (palm up) strikes up to opponent?s throat.  Your R hand continues the pinning check against his R thigh.
5. Stay in a L neutral bow to pull opponent?s throat forward and down.  Immediately switch both of your hands so that your L hand now checks his R hand as your R hand circles up counter-clockwise to hook and pinch his eyes (crab hand pinch).
6. Your R hand checks down to his R hand to grab knife handle as your L handsword tracks up his body to strike his chin.  Simultaneously, your R foot steps behind his front leg into a one-legged crane stance.
7. Immediately shoot a R knife-edge kick to the back of his R leg to buckle as you switch your L handsword to a hooking shape of the crane.  Anchor your L elbow down, forcing opponent over your R leg to cause a back break (See STRIKING SERPENT?S HEAD) as your L knee drops to the ground and your R hand pulls the knife out of his thigh.
8. With the above move, bring your R arm up to deliver a downward stab to opponent’s chest.
9. Place knife against L side of his throat and shoot a L thrusting heel palm to his R jaw to force him off your R knee.
10. R front crossover and cover out twice.

THRUSTING LANCE (right front knife thrust)

1. In a R neutral bow, keep your R hand high to ?draw? attacker?s knife to your midsection.  As he moves in, shift your L foot to 4:30 and deliver a R inward downward hammer strike and grab (with the same R hand) to his inner R wrist
2. Immediately shuffle (push/drag) forward (R hand still grabbing) into a R close kneel stance and strike to opponent’s groin with a L underhand heel strike and grab.
3. Shift your R foot back to 6:00 as your L hand assists your R in twisting opponent’s wrist clockwise (?small circle?), forcing him to bend forward while breaking the wrist as your R hand twists knife out of his hand.
4. L front snapping ball kick to opponent’s ribs followed by a R chicken kick to his sternum.
5. Plant your R foot forward into a R neutral bow and check opponent’s R arm with your L hand and deliver a R underhand stiff-arm lifting back knuckle strike (vertically with knife) driving upward underneath his chin.
6. Drive your R hand (which is now above opponent’s head) staight down to strike vertically to the face.
7. Circle your R arm counter clockwise (starting a sideways figure-8 pattern) and slice in across opponent’s arm with knife.
8. With opponent bending over, your knife hooks over (shape of the crane) and under his R armpit to force his arm away from you (across his body).  Step through with your L foot into a left neutral bow toward 12:00 to execute a L vertical elbow strike to underside of his R armpit.
9. Drag your R foot slightly to 10:30 then have your L heel drive back into a L reverse bow to buckle opponent’s R leg out.  Pivot back into him for a R inward downward stab to his chest as your L checks his R arm into him.
10. L front crossover and cover out twice.

GLANCING LANCE (right front knife thrust - with your arms down)

1. With feet together and arms hanging naturally to your side, your R foot steps back to 6:30 into a L neutral bow as your R hand does an extended outward handsword to opponent’s R wrist. Simultaneously, your L palm heel strikes in to the outside of his L elbow.  (In a L neutral bow stance, your R foot should be positioned to kick).
2. Deliver a R front snap kick to opponent’s groin toward 1:30.
3. Plant your R foot forward to 1:30 (to buckle and check opponent’s R leg) and shoot a R two-finger horizontal eye poke to his eyes.
4. Immediately hop onto your L foot to 9:00 into a R one-legged stance as your R hand circles counter-clockwise, hooks and parries in an overhead fashion to again strike outside opponent’s R wrist. Simultaneously have the heel of your L palm check in against the back of his L shoulder.  Your R leg is chambered to kick toward 3:00.
5. Shoot a R knife edge kick to outside of opponent’s R knee to cause it to buckle as your R palm heel hooks his chin and pulls as your L hand checks his R arm down hard.
6. Plant your R foot in back of opponent’s R leg as your L hand circles clockwise to strike with a L inward middle knuckle fist (?Dragon?s head?) to his R jaw.
8. Your R elbow continues its counter-clockwise circle to execute a R inward horizontal elbow smash to opponent’s L jaw. L hand guards under the R to check.
9. R front crossover and cover out twice toward 8:00.

ENTWINED LANCE (right front high knife thrust)

1. As opponent steps in and thrusts knife, slide your L foot across to 3:00 and pivot (in place) into a L front twist stance as your L “waiter hand” hooks inside opponent’s R wrist.
2. Immediately your R foot steps forward to 1:00 (into a side horse) buckling as well as checking inside of opponent’s R knee. Simultaneously deliver a R heel palm strike to his chin then grab it.
3. Your R hand pulls opponent?s chin into your L two-finger poke to his eye then travels down to check his R arm and strike his wrist to disarm. At the same time, your R foot sweeps opponent’s R foot forward toward 6:00. (At the time of contact with your L finger poke you should be in a R one legged stance in preparation for a kick).
4. From your one legged stance, deliver a R knife-edge kick to inside opponent’s L knee as your R back knuckle strikes into his ribs and your L hand continues to check his R arm.
5. From your R back knuckle strike (still in a R neutral bow), deliver a R inward elbow strike to opponent?s L jaw.
6. Immediately step back with your R foot (into a L neutral bow) and execute a R outward hammer fist to opponent’s R temple followed by a L inward hammer fist (traveling in same path as your R) across his face.
7. L crossover and cover out twice.

PIERCING LANCE (right front knife thrust - with your arms up)

1. Stand in a L cat stance with your hands raised.  As attacker moves in, your L foot steps behind your R (toward 9:00) as you execute a R hooking downward outward parry down and outside his R wrist.
2. Unwind into a L neutral bow as your R hand grabs his R wrist and your L palm heel strikes the R side of his face.         3. Your R foot steps back as you turn back-to-back to your opponent while looping your L arm under his R to catch.  Simultaneously execute a R back elbow strike to his spine as your snap his R elbow for the disarm.
4. Immediately shift your R foot counter-clockwise to 8:00 (into a L neutral bow) as your R hand now changes place with your L to grab opponent’s R wrist.  Pull his wrist down and away as your L knifehand strikes over his R arm into his throat.  Immediately anchor your L elbow on his back and drop your L wrist down onto his R shoulder to take him down.  (Continue to grip his R wrist tightly!)
5. Your L hand regrabs opponent’s R wrist along with your R to twist it counter-clockwise and force knife (if he still holds it) into his throat.  [If opponent releases the knife during the arm break, maintain the hold on his R wrist with your L hand as your R grabs it and plunges it into his throat.]
6. Release your L hand grab and shift your L hand over & under (palm up) opponent’s R wrist and wrap opponent’s L arm around your L leg.  Twist your L hand counter-clockwise (placing great pressure on opponent’s wrist) and up as your R palm pushes in on his outer R elbow to dislocate his R shoulder.
7. Release your R hand grab and shift your R hand over and under opponent’s R wrist as you switch your stance to a L reverse bow.  Your R hand maintains the grab on his R wrist and twists clockwise as you strike down to the elbow with your L palm heel to break (See FALLING FALCON).
8. Shoot a L leg sidekick to R side of opponent’s neck as both of your hands pull up and toward you to cause further shoulder dislocation.
9. Force opponent’s arm to the ground with a and L front crossover stomp on top as you cover out.
