Stance Set 1

This set emphasizes transition between 22 stances. Hidden within are a number of foot maneuvers that, obviously, you need in order to move from one to another. Flow and smoothness is the goal. Be sure to maintain a steady height (except in twist stances) as you look at 12:00. You will recognize the stance switches from both techniques and forms.

Bow, step to the L into a meditating horse stance, and then put hands on the hips.

1. L foot to the center for attention stance
2. L steps to 9:00 for horse stance
3. L foot back to 6:00 into a R neutral bow
4. R foot back into 45? cat stance
5. R foot to 3:00 into a horse stance
6. R foot steps back to 6:00 into a L neutral bow
7. L foot steps back to 6:00 into a L 45? cat stance
8. L foot back to 6:00 into a R twist stance with the L knee on the R calf
9. Unwind counter-clockwise into a R neutral bow
10. R foot steps back to a 45? cat stance, back again to 6:00 into a L twist stance with R knee on the calf
11. Unwind clockwise into a L neutral bow
12. Shift weight back to 6:00 into a L reverse bow, as L heel shifts outward
13. Pivot in place to a L forward bow
14. Step with the R foot up to 12:00; L foot back to 6:00 into a R forward bow (front to back switch)
15. Shift weight back to 6:00 into a R reverse bow, as R heel shifts outward.
16. Pivot in place to a R forward bow
17. R foot slides slightly over to 9:00 and pivots into a R rotating twist stance
18. L foot steps-thru to 12:00 into a R side horse stance, chest facing 3:00
19. L foot pivots counter-clockwise into a L rotating twist stance
20. R foot steps-thru to 12:00 into a L side horse stance, chest facing 9:00
21. L leg steps out to 9:00 for a meditating horse stance
22. L foot slides to center for attention stance
